Wm. R. "Bill" Crocker
Bill Crocker is a fifth-generation Texan and a graduate of Baylor University with both a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Juris Doctor degree. He was in the private practice of law until 1964, and then became corporate counsel for Southwestern Investment Company in Amarillo. He was named Chief Counsel for the Office of the Consumer Credit Commissioner when he moved to Austin in 1967, and in 1971 was appointed as the first Executive Director of the Texas Motor Vehicle Commission. He resigned from that position in 1974 to enter solo private practice in Austin, engaging principally in the representation of dealers in administrative law matters related to the licensing and operation of franchised car, truck and motorcycle dealerships. His area of practice includes administrative agency litigation of disputes between dealers and manufacturers, dealers and other dealers, and dealers and administrative agencies. It also includes representation in dealership acquisitions and sales. He has maintained a Martindale-Hubbell AV rating for over 35 years, and has held the additional designation of Preeminent in Field for over ten years. A member of the State Bar of Texas, he has been the Chairman of its Consumer Credit Law Section.
While at Baylor, Bill was elected Student Body President, president of his law fraternity, and a member of Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. He has since been named a Distinguished Alumnus by his law fraternity, elected President of the Baylor Law Alumni Association and President of the Baylor Alumni Association, and has served as a member of the Baylor Development Council.
